Responsible Care® Statement

Responsible Care® is the chemical industry's award-winning initiative that requires member chemical companies to go above and beyond regulatory requirements and voluntarily share relevant performance metrics with the public.

As a member of the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care® Partner Program, Vopak North America is committed to the principles of Responsible Care® and will continue to emphasize responsible chemical management through leadership and participation in the program.

Our Responsible Care® commitment:

  • We are committed to comply with all relevant local, national and international regulations relating to health, safety, security and the environment.
  • We are committed to the stewardship of products by providing services that are safe and have minimal impacts on health and the environment throughout their life cycle while best meeting the needs of our customers.
  • We have established documented policies and management systems, which are consistent with the principles of Responsible Care®.
  • We are committed to run our facilities safely, protecting our neighbors and employees, and minimizing any impact of these activities on the environment.
  • We are committed to inform all stakeholders of specific metrics regarding health, safety and the environment, and to dialogue in a spirit of openness and mutual respect.

As a Responsible Care® partner company we strive to improve our performance by implementing world-class management practices; working with independent auditors; tracking performance through environmental, health, safety and security measures. These initiative have been intuited in each of our 11 U.S. facilities.

Vopak verifies it's compliance with the Responsible Care® program through a third party audit verification system. This verification is the "check" in the Responsible Care® Management System's "Plan, Do, Check, Act" process. The Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI) is the independent certifier and utilizes its extensive audit protocol, (CDI-T) for terminals.
